Notice about road closures during the carnival parades and other public events within the 65th Kurentovanje
We kindly ask all citizens and visitors of our city to follow the road closures and the instructions of the event stewards during the carnival parades and events at the Mestni trg square and the Kurent Fair.
The Opening Ethnographic Parade will take place on Saturday, 22. 2. 2025, the closures will take place between 9.30 do 14.00The parade will follow this route: Zadružni trg – Ob Dravi – pedestrian footbridge – Dravska ulica – Cankarjeva ulica – Prešernova ulica – Slovenski trg – Slomškova ulica – Miklošičeva ulica – Mestni trg – Minoritski trg – Dravska ulica, where the route ends 30 metres before the Mihelič Gallery.
During the parade, all access roads to the parade route will be closed, as well as the parking lot at Zadružni trg square and half of the parking lot on Čučkova ulica street in front of the Town Stadium.
An important piece of information for all drivers is that the following road will remain passable at all times: the roundabout from the direction of the old bridge before the underpass – Osojnikova cesta – Trstenjakova ulica – Raičeva ulica – Maistrova (or Vičava).
The Mestni trg square with the surrounding streets will be closed from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Miklošičeva ulica street with Novi trg square will also be closed.
Day of Kurent and Korant groups will take place on Wednesday, 26. 2. 2025, at 6:00 PM, as a procession of groups of Kurents/Korants through the city streets and squares. The groups will gather in the wider area of Muzejski trg and Prešernova ulica and will form in such a way that the front of the groups will be at the intersection of Cankarjeva and Prešernova ulica. The procession of the Kurents will proceed in the direction of Prešernova – Slovenski trg – Murkova – Mestni trg – Miklošičeva – Slomškova – Slovenski trg – Murkova – Mestni trg. For the safe execution of the event, road closures and access restrictions to the Kurent parade route will be in place starting from 4:30 PM.
We also urge all event visitors to follow the instructions of the security personnel and stewards and to move within the designated spectator area between Murkova Street and the town market for safety reasons.

Mestni trg square with the surrounding streets will be closed from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Miklošičeva ulica with Novi trg will also be closed.
Saturday Carnival Promenade and the Night Spectacle will take place on Saturday, 1. 3. 2025. While the Night Spectacle will be fully held in the pedestrian zone, a short-term road closure of Slomškova Street near the Administrative Unit will be implemented for the safe execution of the Saturday Carnival Parade, lasting 20 to 30 minutes.
During the execution of these events, a complete traffic ban will be in place in the pedestrian zone from Slomškova Street to Krempljeva Street.
The Town Square with the surrounding streets will be closed from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Miklošičeva Street with Novi Square will also be closed.
International Carnival Parade will take place on Sunday, 2. 3. 2025, starting at 1:00 PM. The road closures will be in effect from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
The parade will follow the following route: Potrčeva Road – Trstenjakova Street – Vinarski Square – Heroja Lacka Street – Town Square – Krempljeva Street – Minoritski Square – Dravska Street, where the parade route will end 30 meters before Mihelič Gallery.
During the parade, all access roads to the parade route will be closed, and the parking lot on Čučkova Street in front of the Town Stadium will also be closed.
Osojnikova Road will remain open to traffic at all times, and detours will be arranged and marked with traffic signage.
The Town Square with the surrounding streets will be closed from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. Miklošičeva Street with Novi Square will also be closed.
Children's Parade will take place on Monday, 3. 3. 2025, the road closures will be in effect from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The parade will follow the following route: Museum Square – Prešernova Street – Slovenski Square – Murkova Street – Town Square – Krempljeva Street – Minoritski Square – Dravska Street, where the parade route will end 30 meters before Mihelič Gallery.
During the parade, all access roads to the parade route will be closed. Also, between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM, the parking lot on Čučkova Street in front of the Town Stadium will be closed, as well as the left side of the parking lot at ŠC Ptuj due to the transportation of children to the start of the parade.
During the arrival of the children at the parade start, from 9:00 AM, there will be a road closure on the section of Raičeva Street to Museum Square and on LC Vičava from the former pastry shop towards the city center. A detour will be marked via Vide Alič Street, which connects Maistrova Street and Vičava. Traffic on this section will be resumed shortly after 10:00 AM.
The Town Square with the surrounding streets will be closed from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Meet Traditional Carnival Characters and Masks: The program will take place every evening at the Town Square. The Town Square with the surrounding streets will be closed from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
